Based on your financial need, Stafford loans are given to you regulated by the federal government. You can go through banks, credit unions or directly from the government. (preferably the one that offers the lowest interest rate!) There are three types of Federal Stafford Loan:
Subsidized Stafford Loan - It’s offered as a long-term loan with low interest rate which the government pays the interest on the loan while the student is still in school.
Unsubsidized Stafford Loan - This loan is long-term with low interest rate as well. If you’re a student who has more financial need or didn’t get Aid through FAFSA this loan may do you well as it offers more money. Since this is “unsubsidized you most pay the interest on your own not with governments help and almost all household incomes qualify.
